President Tom’s January Blog

President Tom writes – My word, what a busy December. Although we have not met collectively since our Christmas Dinner we have been hard at work helping those less fortunate than ourselves. In the comfort of my home, surrounded by my family and enjoying the festivities I look back, wonder and marvel at the number of lives we have touched both locally, nationally and worldwide. Our work continues in 2014. I am so proud of everyone who has gone that ‘extra mile’ with our carol float that ensured that Santa on his sleigh was another great success.
We have sent and received Christmas cards from our twinned clubs, the Lions in Heathcote, Australia and Gaeta in Italy. We wish them all a very Happy New Year.

It was great to hear a talk given from Vanessa Kitchen of the RSVP (The Retired Voluntary Programme in the West of England) to our club members the other evening encouraging us as a club to help with Literacy in our local schools. Watch out for further news on this clubs initiative in this field of service.
